First Week Out — Documentary Trailer & Spotlight
About The Documentary
Over 600,000 individuals are released from American correctional facilities each year. In Georgia, the critical bridge during the initial seven days determines whether an individual successfully stabilizes or falls into the revolving trap of parole violations and recidivism.
"First Week Out" was produced directly on location at Vital Signs Re-entry Ministry. With unvarnished authenticity, the film captures the emotional vulnerability of walking into a clean room with real sheets, the anxiety of getting a first smartphone, navigating the Georgia Department of Driver Services, and the powerful healing found in peer brotherhood circles.
Why We Filmed This
"Too often, society sees returning citizens only by their worst mistakes. We produced First Week Out so pastors, business leaders, lawmakers, and neighbors could see their resilience, their humanity, and the miracle of second chances." — Founder, Vital Signs Re-entry Ministry
